Just a short post today.
Once again, I have been using the page of the Wirral Council website for reporting problems. Today, it was the hedges along Leasowe Road that force users of wheelchairs or mobility scooters or visually impaired folks like myself to walk in the road:

The problem is that I report this exact issue on Leasowe Road every year. It is as predictable as Christmas, but the council don’t appear to be able to proactively cut back the hedges. Instead, they seem to wait until somebody complains. But it is absurdly dangerous for wheelchair or mobility scooter users, parents with prams or buggies or visually impaired people such as myself to be forced to walk in Leasowe Road, one of the busiest roads hereabouts. Ah well, if someone gets killed, at least they won’t be bothering the Council with reports any more.
Then there was the bench we have already seen in another post:

A couple of weeks ago, it was a problem with the push-button of a set of pedestrian lights, and the week before that it was the tactile button on the same set of lights.
On the list are the abandoned pick-up lorry, some more faulty pedestrian lights, overhanging vegetation from Council property, … I shan’t run out of material in a hurry.
However, what is so infuriating is that when you report these issues, you are presented with a map. If there is a red dot at the location, there is already a report, and as often as not, the issue has already been reported. Not only that, I have, over the years, found myself reporting the same issue (particularly overhanging vegetation) year on year. The council seems not to realize that vegetation grows anew every year and needs to be dealt with every year – without the need for Mr. Angry of Wallasey to report it.
